Entering 2011 the Baltimore Orioles almost made the playoffs. They had a young star in Adam Jones and an ace in Chris Tillman. The next year their best prospect Manny Machado played like a 3rd pick the O’s hoped he would be. They broke through in 2012 and made the playoffs as a wild card team and nearly beat the Yankees in the ALDS. To return they needed a few pieces. In 2014 they had Chris Davis and Nelson Cruz. Davis was coming off his best season. Cruz was in Baltimore for a career resurrection. The team was very dominate. Cruz lead the league in HRs. They faced adversity when Chris Davis was suspended for using a PED, which was a prescription medicine, players stepped up. The Orioles defeated the Detroit Tigers in the ALDS and lost to the Royals in the ALCS. In 2016 The Orioles lost in the wildcard game in 2016, had a subpar year in 2017. They had some potential coming in to the 2018 season.
After an opening day the Baltimore Orioles were very inconsistent. Dylan Bundy pitched well in his outings but he never had any run support. The bats died, except SS Manny Machado who had been trade bait for the past year. After being the worst MLB team going in to May the Orioles made a tough decision to rebuild. It all started off with trading away Manny. The face of the Orioles, a player who was a fan favorite. Manny was traded to the Dodgers after the ASG. His last game in Baltimore? He hit a Homer and then was removed for precautionary reasons. The Orioles received these prospects…

The Orioles got a nice haul, they weren’t done rebuilding. They traded former top pick Kevin Gausmen and Reliever Darren Oday to the Braves. Gausmen had 2 year remaining on his contract after this season. They also traded Brad Brach to the braves in a separate deal. From the Braves they acquired...
INT signing money (Brach)
INF Jean Carlos Encarnacion: Braves top 30 prospect
C Brett Cumberland
P Evan Phillips
P Bruce Zimmerman: Maryland native with deep ties to Baltimore.
2.5 million in INT money
They weren’t done, they decided to trade Johnathan Schoop away too. HE was on fire at the trade deadline. This moved showed me that the Orioles were going to completely implode and rebuild from the ground up.
INF Jean Carmona
P Luis Ortiz
2B Jonathan Villar
Finally they traded closer Zach Britton, a CY young candidate as a closer 2 years ago. Who held a lot of value despite is injury history. They Acquired
P Dillon Tate: Former top MLB prospect before an injury
P Josh Rodgers
P Cody Carroll : a Yankee Top 30 prospect
Looking at the prospects we received its obvious we want to invest in international prospects. We received around 3 million in the trades. The Orioles have interest in Victor Victor Mesa. He could help speed up the rebuild and strengthen our farm system. The orioles also took risks with Dillon Tate and Luis Ortiz, they were both former top 50 MLB prospects. Both suffered injuries that set them back. If they play like their elite forms the Orioles are going to be solid.
Expect a finish rebuild in 2020. They have the pieces. The Orioles need to tank in 2019. Back to back top picks. There are two loaded draft classes and the Orioles could receive a 5 tool star that will be the face of the team.
